Celebrating 15 Years of Stewardship: Festival of Biodiversity 2026
The Festival of Biodiversity (FoB) returned for its 15th edition on 6 and 7 June 2026 at the National Library Building, welcoming 25,000 visitors over two days. Organised by NParks in collaboration with the Biodiversity Roundtable and held in conjunction with the International Day of Biological Diversity, FoB 2026 celebrated Singapore's rich biodiversity and the community's dedication to nature conservation and outreach. This year's theme, "Stewardship in Action: Connecting Communities and Biodiversity", shone a spotlight on the vital role that communities play in nature stewardship, with the festival serving as a vibrant space for volunteers, youths, Nature Kakis, and the wider nature community to come together.

The festival featured 32 booth partners from the nature community alongside 3 NParks booths, 1 NParks Community in Nature (CIN) Schools booth, and three educational game booths by the FoB Youth Stewards for Nature (YSN) planning committee. Visitors could also look forward to 10 workshops and 11 spotlight talks across the two days, reflecting the growing interest and energy within Singapore's nature community. This year's co-location of programmes brought even more touchpoints and community groups, including volunteers, youths and grassroots communities, under one roof, further cementing FoB as a key platform for connecting people with nature.

Guest of Honour, Minister of State for National Development & Trade and Industry, Mr Alvin Tan, graced the opening of FoB on 6 June, marking the occasion with several key announcements. Five years since its launch, the Tropical Forest Ecology Research (TFER) Programme introduced a Grants and Fellowships Scheme to provide funding support of up to $100,000 per project for early career researchers in tropical forest ecology. MOS also announced the updated Nature Conservation Masterplan (NCMP), first launched in 2015, which has been refreshed to reflect NParks' evolving priorities and now comprises five thrusts including two cross-cutting horizontal thrusts — the updated public document is available on NParks' website. In addition, two major donors to the Garden City Fund were honoured through Heritage Tree dedications: Delta Electronics and GSK-EDB Trust Fund, recognised for supporting multiple conservation and community initiatives. MOS also announced the official name of the new centre of excellence for marine science — the National Institute for Marine & Ocean Sciences (NIMOS).

FoB 2026 is a testament to the collective passion and commitment of the broader nature community in championing biodiversity in Singapore. A big thank you to everyone who contributed to making this edition a success, whether through planning, volunteering, or simply showing up to celebrate Singapore's natural heritage. We look forward to continuing this journey together in the years ahead.

Thank you to everyone who came down to support this year’s Festival!
