Greening for biodiversity
Learn the fundamentals of greening, select the right plants, and create a biodiversity trail!
Are you ready to take your commitment to nature a step further? Whether you have a plot of land to plant up, or you’re already knee deep into gardening, you can play a big part in making Singapore greener and more welcoming for our native flora and fauna.
Greening for biodiversity means creating spaces that not only look beautiful, but also provide vital habitats and food sources for a variety of species.
Start your journey greening for biodiversity by conducting a biodiversity audit, greening your space with a planting palette and go further by building a biodiversity trail!
Conducting a biodiversity audit

Before you begin, it’s helpful to conduct a baseline biodiversity audit.
This helps you understand what species are already present in your garden or community space, and guides your efforts to enhance the area for greater ecological value.
After greening your space, consider conducting another biodiversity survey to see how effective your greening efforts were!
You can conduct a Biodiversity Audit through a BioBlitz survey!

Building a biodiversity-friendly habitat

Building a biodiversity trail
Once you have greened your space, take the next step by setting up a biodiversity trail! This allows you to share your knowledge and passion with others. Guide your peers or community members through the trail, showcasing the diverse species and unique features of your garden, and help others learn about our local biodiversity.
