What are marine invertebrates?

Marine invertebrates are invertebrates that live in marine habitats, supported by the saltwater in oceans and seas. They were the first animals to evolve on Earth, and contain some of the most primitive life forms alive today. Marine invertebrates have an immense diversity in form and ecology, including echinoderms, corals, molluscs, jellyfish, amongst many others. Singapore’s marine invertebrate biodiversity is supported by our integral marine habitats like mangroves, seagrass meadows, and even coral reefs!
