Responsible human-wildlife encounters
Learn how to live responsibly with Singapore's urban wildlife, and play your part in building our City in Nature.
Living with nature
As a City in Nature, Singapore is home to an extraordinary variety of animals, many of which share our parks, gardens, streets, and even our homes. As we continue to enhance our natural spaces and bring people closer to nature, it is important that we learn to live responsibly with wildlife for the safety of both people and animals alike.
Learning and responding
Knowing what animals you encounter and their behaviour is the first step to keeping yourself and the animal safe. For example, foraging Asian Honey Bees are generally safe, but will defend their hive if the nest is threatened. This means that you can safely walk amongst bees that are visiting flowers, but you should keep your distance from a bee hive! Browse our biodiversity pages to identify some common species and read our wildlife advisories to learn about measures you can take to keep yourself and wild animals safe.
Basic Dos and Don'ts
Some simple rules apply for all animals, regardless of species:
If you see a hurt animal or have a wildlife replated issue, call NPark's Animal Response Centre at 1800-476-1600 for assistance.
