About the Wild Boar in Singapore

One of the largest mammals that can still be found in Singapore, the Wild Boar (Sus scrofa) is one of the widest ranging mammals in the world.
Identifying features

Adults are stout and robust, and have dark greyish-brown, sometimes slightly reddish hair. They grow up to 1.5m in length. Juveniles have a lighter brown coat with stripes running down their flank, resembling little watermelons.
Habitat and ecology
Wild boars are primarily found in primary and secondary forests, though they have been known to stray into urban areas in search for food. While they are primarily herbivorous, feeding on various plant parts such as leaves, roots and berries, they have also been known to eat carrion, insects, earthworms and molluscs, among other sources of meat.
