Celebrating Biodiversity
As a lead-up to the International Day for Biological Diversity celebrated every year on 22 May, students can explore the diversity of local plants and animals in Singapore through our Biodiversity Week for Schools.
This year, Biodiversity Week for Schools will be held from 23 to 31 May 2026.
From now till 16th February, schools must register with us to participate in BioBlitz for Schools and Festival of Biodiversity during Biodiversity Week for Schools 2026.
BioBlitz for schools
BioBlitz for schools is a wildlife survey in the school environment over a defined period to document flora and fauna as part of the Nationwide BioBlitz, a nationwide initiative.
Target audience: Upper primary and secondary

Learning objectives
Through this activity, students will:
Learn basic wildlife survey techniques.
Learn how to identify common birds, butterflies and dragonflies.
Conducting the activity
We will provide participating schools with:
BioBlitz booklets for students
Paper binoculars
3 A2 sized posters on common dragonflies, common butterflies and common birds

Festival of Biodiversity
The Festival of Biodiversity showcases Singapore’s impressive variety of native flora and fauna to raise greater awareness of Singapore’s rich biodiversity.
Students can look forward to interactive activities and exhibitions by us and our nature group partners.
