The Common Myna (Acridotheres tristis) is an introduced resident bird in Singapore. While they are highly adaptable and found in urban areas, they are actually less numerous here than their darker cousins, the Javan Mynas.

The non-native Common Myna features a rich, warm brown body that contrasts with its black head, and a prominent, bare patch of bright yellow skin directly behind its eye. Like the Javan Myna, it can be distinguished in flight by the bold white patches on its wings that flash clearly when it flies.

Habitat and Ecology
They are terrestrial foragers that occupy open grass patches and pavements, feeding on everything from insects and worms to discarded human food. They nest in tree hollows or crevices in buildings.
