The Spotted Dove (Spilopelia chinensis) is a small, shy dove that takes off readily when disturbed. The species gets its name from the distinctive black band with white spots on the back and sides of its neck.

Habitat and ecology
Spotted doves feed on grass seeds and grains, and are commonly found on walking paths foraging for grass seeds picked up by our shoes, and can be found in parks, gardens and urban spaces.
