The Rose-ringed Parakeet features an entirely bright, vivid green body and a very long, pointed tail. It possesses a bright red, deeply hooked upper beak. Additionally, adult males sport a distinct black and pinkish-rose ring circling their neck, a characteristic that females and juveniles lack.

Habitat and ecology
They are fast flyers that travel in small, screeching flocks. They use their powerful beaks to crack open tough seeds, fruits, and pods found in urban park trees, such as the Rain Tree and Golden Penda.
