About the Grey Heron in Singapore

The Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea) is one of the most common large herons in Singapore, having both resident and migratory populations. While they are generally silent, they are known to produce a wide variety of sounds when nesting!

The Grey Heron is primarily a light grey with black head stripes and nape-plumes. Beak is a dull yellow, and legs are pale yellow. Juveniles are similar, though the head stripes are duller with shorter nape-plumes.
