The Little Heron (Butorides atricapilla) is a common resident and is the smallest heron species in Singapore, hence its name!
The Little Heron (Butorides atricapilla) was recently split from Striated Heron (Butorides striata), which is now restricted to the Americas.

Small in size, Little Herons are generally grey in colour with a black crown and bill, and yellow legs.
Juveniles are also grey in colour, but with lighter striations running down the neck and chest.
