The Simpoh Air features large, strongly ribbed leaves that typically measure 15 to 25 cm long and 8 to 12 cm wide. When it is in bloom, look out for its large, bright yellow flowers, which are characterized by five distinct petals. As the plant matures, its fruits split open into a striking star shape, revealing seeds covered in a fleshy, bright red aril.
Habitat and ecology
They have incredibly deep taproots that allow them to reach underground water sources. By providing deep shade with their large leaves, they help other forest seeds a chance to grow.
